Mobile testing

Mobile testing of solar modules enables on-site quality assessment without transport or dismantling. Electroluminescence (EL) imaging reveals hidden defects such as microcracks, broken cells, and soldering issues, while flash testing measures electrical performance, including power output and I-V curves under controlled conditions. Combined, these methods provide a reliable evaluation of both structural integrity and electrical performance, supporting acceptance testing, warranty validation, and informed asset management decisions.

Mobile testing explained

Watch our team perform on-site flash and electroluminescence diagnostics for accurate, high-precision solar panel inspections.

We come to you for the testing of your modules!

Mobile solar panel testing is the process of bringing advanced diagnostic equipment directly to the location of solar modules instead of transporting them to a laboratory. Specialized mobile testers can quickly evaluate performance, detect defects, and ensure panels meet required standards right where they are installed or stored.

The key benefit of mobile testing is efficiency. Instead of removing and shipping panels, technicians can perform checks on-site, saving significant time and costs. It reduces downtime for solar farms and makes it easier to test large numbers of modules in a short period. Mobile testing also provides faster feedback, helping identify issues such as microcracks, hotspots, or degradation before they grow into bigger problems. This proactive approach extends the lifetime of solar assets and ensures maximum energy yield. By offering flexibility, speed, and cost-effectiveness, mobile solar panel testing is becoming an essential solution for operators, developers, and recycling companies alike.

How long does a test take?

Depending on the number of panels to be tested, we allow one hour for setup and teardown, and can test approximately 30 modules per hour. This number may vary. We will review with the client how much time is needed to perform the test.

Where can I have panels tested?

With our unique mobile tester, we can perform tests at any location. For existing rooftop projects, the panels must be removed so we can test them on the ground. The client is responsible for this.

What criteria are used to assess the panels?

SolarTester applies the Version 3.4 criteria developed by MBJ (Germany) in collaboration with TÜV. If desired, we can also apply other criteria to the test results to achieve your required evaluation. Please feel free to contact the SolarTester team for more information.
